Volunteer Opportunities
Parent Panel
H.E.A.R.T.strings Perinatal Bereavement & Palliative Care offers bereavement training classes to hospital employees who work with perinatal loss families. During these sessions, a variety of topics are covered: unique aspects of perinatal grief, communication skills (what to say and what not to say), and assisting families in creating memories. One of the most meaningful and useful aspects of the class is when parents are invited to share their hospital experiences. We are in need of moms, dads, and grandparents who are willing to speak about their experience in the hospital. If this is something you are interested in, please complete the online form linked below. Classes are offered on all three campuses, and we welcome you to be a part of our education program. In the past, parents who were on the panel have said the opportunity was a healing and helpful experience. They were able to reinforce the positive aspects of the care they received, as well as to provide insight and suggestions for improving and enhancing the treatment and support offered to families in the future.

Companions Mentor
The H.E.A.R.T.strings Companions Program matches trained volunteer mentors who have experienced the loss of a baby, with newly bereaved parents for personal, one-on-one support and companionship. H.E.A.R.T.strings will seek to match people with similar experiences when possible, and will monitor the matches to make sure both parties are comfortable. If your loss is at least one year out and you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact us.
