The H.E.A.R.T.strings Perinatal Bereavement & Perinatal Palliative Care program of Northside Hospital welcome you, your family and friends to the 16th Annual Atlanta Walk to Remember!

Earlier this year, we created a vision for this event and designed it with you in mind. This virtual event includes special music, story vignettes, releases and readings, and the listing of babies names that we remember. The virtual nature of the event will offer you a permanent remembrance for our community, which you may revisit as you need to.

VIRTUAL PARTICIPATION INFORMATION

To prepare for this annual remembrance opportunity, we have put together a list of ideas that we hope provide guidance for families to create their own “walks” and “releases” in a socially safe way*. We know that this journey can be challenging. Coming together with this community in a ritual of remembrance can provide meaning and peace.

Suggestions for how to participate in the the 2020 Virtual Atlanta Walk to Remember
  1. Register and, if desired, purchase a t-shirt. During registration, please share with us the number of family and friends you think will be watching and participating in honor of you (to help us count attendance).
  2. Mark your calendar to join us virtually on Sunday, October 4 at 2:00 P.M.
  3. Prior to October 4, plan your walk and release, which will take place at the conclusion of the video: Typically, we would walk together at the end of the event, and then have a release. Since we cannot be together, we encourage you to plan your own. Your walk can take place wherever is most meaningful for you, perhaps in your neighborhood, park, or somewhere else special, following safe social distancing guidelines.  Invite friends and family to join with you (or encourage them to do their own to honor you if that feels safer). The length of your walk is up to you. Your release can be whatever feels right for your family. Examples include lighting a candle, releasing a balloon, releasing flowers into a body of water. If you are doing a release in a public park, please check their website for guidelines. Take pictures and videos, if you desire.*
  4. Share your walk and release with us! Upload your video/photos if you desire to the Atlanta Walk to Remember Facebook page.
*Your participation in the event is voluntary, you are solely responsible for ensuring the safety of you and your guests participating in the event, you should not participate in the event unless you are healthy enough to do so, and you will take all precautions in light of the COVID-19 pandemic including social distancing, masking, and complying with all recommendations and/or requirements of federal, state, and local governments and agencies. You understand that COVID-19 may be transmitted through contact with others and by participating in a group event you assume the risk of contracting COVID-19. You hereby release and hold harmless Northside from any and all claims or liabilities associated with your participation in this event.
