Cindy is the Chaplain for the Women’s Center and Emergency Room at Northside Hospital Forsyth in Cumming, GA. Cindy’s training began at Northside, doing her Clinical Pastoral Education internship there before moving to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for a 2-year-long Residency specializing in Pediatric Trauma. Cindy is working towards Ordination in the United Church of Christ, where she hopes to be ordained later this year. Cindy received her Bachelor’s in Psychology with a Studio Art Minor from Hope College in Holland, MI. Upon graduating from College, she volunteered for 3 months at a foster home for medically fragile children in China. There, Cindy got a first-hand what day-to-day life looks like with medically fragile children and the hope that lives within this community. While in China, Cindy confirmed her interest in developing her Biblical and Theological understandings and began Seminary upon her return. Cindy attended Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA where she learned and grew more deeply as a Theologian, Pastor and Artist. Cindy is passionate about staff care, perinatal Loss and trauma support and using art in chaplaincy. One of the highlights of her job is providing a craft-centered NICU parent’s support group each week to foster community and provide support to parents with children in the NICU.
