Elizabeth is a board certified professional chaplain who began her career at Northside Hospital in 2008. Before being hired on staff, Elizabeth completed two years of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) with a specialization in Women’s Services at Northside Hospital-Atlanta. Elizabeth served as a chaplain generalist at Northside-Forsyth for 2 years before returning to Northside-Atlanta to again focus on women’s spiritual health in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Elizabeth brings a peaceful presence to the NICU. She is multilingual and certified to function as a chaplain in both English and Portuguese. As a world traveler and student of human character, Elizabeth’s astute cross-cultural competency is great asset in providing wise, non-judgmental care for families of varying backgrounds in the NICU. When she was asked to describe the meaning of chaplaincy, Elizabeth responded, “chaplaincy is the fulfillment of the law of love and compassion. It is a privilege to listen to our patients, everyone human being has a story to tell, and they need someone to whom they can tell it.” For Elizabeth, being a chaplain at Northside Hospital is more than a job, it is the fulfillment of her calling to help those in need from a spiritual perspective. It is an honor.
