Chaplain's Corner
While in the hospital, many of you were visited by one or more of our hospital Chaplains. While the Chaplains at Northside Hospital are an important part of the Perinatal Loss team, most people are not familiar with what chaplains do and that they are available to you even after you have left the hospital. To help parents and families become better acquainted with the Chaplains and what they offer, we have added this section to our newsletter and our website www.northsidepnl.com.
Here is the mission statement of our chaplaincy program: To provide spiritual care to patients, families, and hospital employees: to offer quality Clinical Pastoral Education, and to foster spiritual values for the care of the whole person-body, mind, and spirit - throughout the Northside Hospital organization.
Chaplains provide an inclusive, ecumenical ministry that is respectful, sensitive, and supportive of all faiths, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds. The Chaplains’ Office has resources on multicultural and diverse religious groups’ beliefs and practices. If you are interested in speaking with a chaplain, here are the phone numbers:
Northside Atlanta (404) 851-8754
Northside Cherokee (404) 720-5297
Northside Forsyth: (678) 414-8504

Chaplain Manager for Northside Hospital
Amani D. Legagneur, M.Div. is a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Supervisor certified through the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. She has an extensive history of scholarship and meaningful work in theological studies, health, pastoral care, and related fields. Amani graduated from Amherst College with a dual degree in Interdisciplinary Biochemistry and Spanish Language and Culture. She then worked for two years as a biomedical researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). During the same time period, Amani established The Treasure Chest Publishing Company and published her first volume of poetry, Cymbals and Thyme. The reflective process of writing her book and a persistent draw toward theological studies led Amani to pursue a Master of Divinity degree at Harvard Divinity School. Upon graduation from Harvard, Amani completed her CPE internship, residency, and supervisory training at the nationally renowned Emory Center for Pastoral Services (ECPS). For five years she specialized in pastoral care for women and families with a focus on Perinatal loss. She went on to serve as Associate Director of Program Development for Emory Clergy Care, working collaboratively with Director Rev. Dr. Fred Smoot and ECPS to begin a parish-based CPE program in Cartersville, GA and to enhance support services for clergy spouses. Amani is currently the Manager of Chaplaincy Services for Northside Hospital (Atlanta, Cherokee, and Forsyth). She is married to her college sweetheart, the proud mother of a nine-month old baby girl, a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a person of faith.
